And I dont know how to check it. Can anyone help me out on how to check the light.

 

Under the hood on the passanger side there is a little black box about 3-4" long and an inch wide.

Open the top of the box and you will find some electrical connections and on the inside top of the box you will see a white lay out of the connections.

Take a paperclip bend it completily streight

once streight fold it in half

take the two ends and with a hammer flaten them out like a wedge

take the clip and put one end in the socket marked tc1
take the other side of the clip and stick that end in the socket marked E
now turn your ignition on and count the flashs from the check engine light and you can find the code that corrasponds with the number of flashs in the service manual(there is a sticky of the manual in the post 89-95 section here )

there is no tc1 or e port. Its onlt tc or e1 and nothing happens when they are connected.

 

I read that info. about shorting out the pins also. I could not make heads or tales of it. The info. that's on the cap doesn't even come close to what the book said. I'm not giving you guys any letters/numbers because the truck is sitting 47 miles away at the farm and I'm at work....on a break of coarse!

 

You need to use the paper clip to connect those two terminals in the diagnostic plug. Then turn the ignition on, and watch and count the flash patterns of the check engine light.

Then cross reference the codes you find to the list to find out what it's telling you.

Tedious, but it will help you to find out whats going on.

It is Te1 and E1

I got 5 flashs then a pause and 2 more flashes.

Where do I go to decode this?

 

code 52 is knock sensor, IIRC.

I'll bet it's the knock sensor wire. They're popular, and less than ten bucks from the dealership.

The catch is that you have to remove the entire intake manifold to get to the knock wire.

It's also possible that the sensor itself is bad, but we do about 40-50x more knock wires than sensors.

 

Damn, Well im glad I know what the code is now but I just rebuilt the motor and had to replace that wire since it was corroded badly. I didnt replace the knock sensor itself though due to its high price and plus it looked fine.

Do you think its the sensor itself now? When I start it in the morning the this barley runs for 3 seconds then starts to run fine. When the light is on it feels as if I have less power while driving. Are you sure it isnt an 02 sensor or something?
