CEL Diagnosis

CEL Diagnosis
Just got my rebuilt 22re running last weekend and so far it's been great except for a CEL. I jumped the connector to check the code and it gave me four flashes. Looking it up on 4crawler's site it says "Open or shorted Water Thermo Sensor (THW) circuit". I assumed this meant the smaller temp sensor on the front of the manifold (driver side one as opposed to the larger passenger side one). I replaced the sensor with a new one, but the CEL remains with the same trouble code. Just wanted to make sure that I replaced the correct sensor before I start troubleshooting the wiring. Thanks!

It's an '85, and yes, I replaced it with a new sensor. It's the green, rectangular connector. Seems to run great but I need to hold the gas on first startup for a little bit or it dies.

So the ECU is not getting the correct feedback from the sensor .
So the cold start injector does not fire that being the reason it wants to stall at start up.
Once things are warm your good to go.

Yeah I figured as much. Must be a loose wire somewhere. You're right, not a huge deal after initial warmup, just a little annoying with the CEL in my face the whole time I'm driving. Thanks for the response.
