Body swap: 81 truck on to 99 Tacoma frame

I rolled my 99 Tacoma this weekend, now I am thinking of swapping my 81 Toyota truck body on to the 99 Tacoma frame. Looking for advise on if the swap is even possible. Any advise or knowledge would be appreciate.

If irbis Offroad can put first gen 4Runner bodies on 3rd gen 4Runner frames then your idea has to be possible.

If you do it, start a build thread please. That's something I would like to see!

Scribed, I'm super interested in doing a similar swap. 81->95 P/U frame. Mine should be more straight forward though.

Your just swapping the bed ???

The Cab also??

The bed measure where the bed mounts to the frame move mounts to all line up . You might need to make your own brackets for the back of the bed.

You would need to make sure your fuel fill neck is the same place or decide how to fix it when it isn`t

Lights make up or rewire the plugs you have

Easy but labor intensive !!!

If your also doing The Cab it can be done

be like a engine swap but backwards you have the engine so your interfacing the engine harness to the cab harness.

Hard call to make either way lots of work. Lots of fabricating I am thinking alot of trail and error try this try that

The whole front end attaching points are so different

To have to pay someone you could replace your Tacoma.

How bad is yours?? might be a whole lot easier to repair that one.

It would be a very labor intensive swap.
Seeing an IFS 1st Gen almost seems like sacrilege.

Go for it. And post lots of pics:Bigok:
