I have been looking around to buy a 87-89 4runner and have noticed that several of them have v6's in the instead of the 22re 4cyl. What kind of v6 do the 87-89 4runner have? Do they have the 3vz-e? I know from experiance that for some reason these motors are junk and they always blow up.

 

they have the 3vz in them. if your gonna go for the 22re, might as well go for an 84-85 with they solid axle.

I would go for one with the 3vz, and then swap in the 3.4 making an aweosme runner.

 

it is a 3vz motor i would cahnge it out for either a 4cyl or 6cyl taco motor

 

I dont think I would be able to find any decent 84-84 runners. For about how much would a 3.4 swap run you?
