another tire/rim question
so i did a search and but couldn't find much because my question is almost opposite of most.
i found a good deal on craigslist on 16 x 10 rims, now I got a 265 tire and was wondering if the rim was too big for the tire. my tires i've got are ltx's and have at least 95% tread left, therefore i would like to use this tire if I can. mostly because the ride is DD.
i've known people to stretch tires over rims, but on a appx 10.5 tire fitting on a 10 rim is it okay? how will it affect load bearing on the tire? thanks in advance.

call discount or lesschwabs but i'm pretty sure it will not work since the 265 comes stock on a 7" rim. imho, a 10" rim is pretty wide and might not look that good either or rub, might need flares on fenders or spacers depanding on the offset.

as long as your tires are 16" to fit the rim 10.5" on a 10" rim is no problem I run 35x12.5's on 8" rims just makes them a bit fatter on the side wall load wise non issue.
Also you want to check the backspacing of them rims you want at least 3.5-4" bs but an 8" rim would be better for your truck anyway 10" are a bit wide but can and would work just check the backspacing

thanks for the input. see in an ideal situation i would want 16 x 8 rims, but these rims are the same price, and eventually I would like to go with 315's so that's my thinking. its a 16x 10 with 4 inch backspacing.

The 10" rim will widen the tire when sitting and if you lower the pressure you greatly increase the chance of blowing a bead.
A 8" rim and 7" rim are better suited for 10.5" tires since it holds the bead better at low pressures. Go for 8" wide rims and if you upgrade to 12.5" wide tires you can fit those as well and hold the bead good.

man, sell those skins on the existing rims and get the tires you want on your 10"s that much sooner.
clean 'em up nice and put 'em on craigslist and move forward with fittin' them 315's in there. good luck!
(this advice comes straight from the little devil dude on my shoulder tellin' me the same thing about gettin' 33s NOW not later)
