amsguage electric fuel pump

amsguage electric fuel pump
Po of my 83 installed a amsguage electric fuel pump on the inside fender of the engine bay. Kinda high up, pretty much at same height as adapter plate for the Weber 32/36.
It pulls fuel up surprisingly well and have had no issues with fuel flow except....recently at cold start I flip the toggle switch for the pump and the rpms initially kick in strong but slow down and even completely stop sometimes. Especially if the first crank of the engine doesn't get it running. A couple pedal pumps and it starts with the pumps rpms returning to normal.
Also, when at idle. Especially in a drive thru line the pump gets real loud. I'll guessing because it's semi dry? It quiets back to a purrr when I get moving again. It never dies except sometimes with the cold start initial crank. Never had surging or sputtering. I don't see any pressure regulator. Just line from tank, inline filter, pump to carb. Return lines aren't hooked up either.
Truck runs great but it's just irritating especially when it gets loud. People looking at me like my engine is gonna blow lol.
Is it something I should be concerned with? Or any fix?

Not sure. Its still on the engine. Po installed the electric pump with the Weber. I guess he thought the Weber would need more flow. I think if it was mounted near the tank on the frame rail it would never make noise. I'm lazy to relocate it because it runs strong. Just noisy at times
