aftermarket windshield trim?

Is there a source for new windshield trim, preferably a big gasket, but may have to settle for metal.

Getting a new windshield and the original metal has fallen off yrs ago.

Its an '87 4x4.

Thanks

Just have the windshield guy use a universal gasket. He'll know what you're looking for. That's what i did on my 87, and it looks great, HEAPS better than the annoying chrome. Cost $160 after tax, and they came to my work and did it in the parking lot.

Also, it's better to bump an old thread than to make a new one. Just go into the thread you made and leave a post saying "Bump." That will put it back at the top of the most recent posts, which is where it's most likely to be seen. Also, be patient, you only waited an hour before making another thread. People here are very helpful and will get around to you, but it's a Wednesday morning, and lots of people are at work. Welcome to YT!

The trim, rubber or chrome, catches and retains water and hastens rusting, so
I'm considering removing mine and simply running a good bead of black silicone sealant around the factory seam to further protect it. After all, many newer vehicles (like some VW Jetta's) do not have it and they look clean.

Just concerned about how much gap is there. Would you mind posting pic of how it looks like without the trim?
TIA
