'94 4runner no throttle response
Hi, I have a '94 4Runner 3.slow and I am having some trouble. I just replaced the head gaskets and fluids. When I first started it, it idled at about 250 rpms, after removing and playing with the tps it now idles about 600 and revs fine in neutral but when I put it in gear it has no power or throttle response unless I rev it up pretty good before letting out the clutch, then there seems to be some power but not enough to get moving past about 5-10mph's (same in reverse). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm in the process of doing my head right now. Did you pre-load the timing chain in the right direction so there wasn't any slack on the driver's side? It also sounds like it could be a misplaced wire or forgotten sensor. Sounds like you are're getting it air (ability to rev in neutral) but not enough fuel (low power under load). Just some thoughts.

Tps "adjustment" is a red herring, you didn't un bolt it from the throttle body when you took the intake off (did you?). The only likely change there under normal circumstances would be a pinched/broken wire and moving the tps isn't going to do anything about that.
(Like already mentioned..)
Get your timing light and double check the ignition, short of that you likely didn't get the cam timing to spec, or need the right valve shim adjustments..

there is nearly no adjustment, but u must get it installed in the correct orientation or else it gives OPs symptoms. however, i agree that if it wasnt removed before, it should not need adjustment.
it sounds as if its a fuel lean condition, but thats only speculatuon considering all we know is, you have no power down low.
is the Fuel pressure regulator connected propperly?
