I read the post started by johnquist and it was like he was talking about my vehicle. My engine apparently locked up when the oil pump quit working. Now I'm looking at replacing it. I thought about having a newer 3.4 motor installed but with over 200,000 miles on the vehicle who knows when another major part will go down..... I like my 4runner and don't want to just discard it to a salvage yard, but what can I do? Give me some ideals please.

 

put another 3.0 engine in,
Cut your losses and find another vehicle

 

In this area noone has a 3.0 thats any good.

 

i have 193k and just rebuilt my motor, if u like the 4runner then replace the motor and keep going, if u cant find the motor your wanting then go with a 3.4 but just know u are into more work if u do, might want to check around more and see if u can find one, or take yours apart and rebuild it...
