93 pickup 2wd rear shock questions

hey everybody this is my first post into this forum but anyways I recently picked up a 93 toyota pickup 2wd 22re and i love the truck. It currently has the total chaos kit on the front end with rancho shocks which is great and all until i go to the back end of the truck and i still have the stock suspension so its not able to keep up with the front as you can probably figured out. Im currently building a bed cage to place some new suspension on as well as front bumper and roll cage but I'm not a big mechanical buff on suspension and was curious what any of you might suggest, i am some what familiar with fox and king shocks but when it comes to the bypass, air, coil over etc. I'm completely lost and am looking for what any of you may suggest for me, thanks guys i appreciate it and lock forward to this forum!!!!

here she is with the current bumper I'm working on

First, whats your budget? That will determine what type of shocks and rear suspension you can run.
Second, what leaf springs are you going to run? You can upgrade to a better shock in the back but it wont be a huge improvement and still probably wont keep up with the front if you are going to use the stock springs. If you do that. your going to limit your travel to less then 10'' and then there is no point to spending big money on shocks yet.

I know deaver used to have a bolt on mini pack that replaced your overload leaf and it wasn't too bad on price. You got about 1.5-2'' lift and gained a little more travel but not a whole lot. Other then that, there are a few options out there for better leafs like deavers or nationals or the chevy spring swap which you can read about on here but they all require fabrication work and suspension setup knowledge.

As far as bypass/coilover/air shocks, they all do different things and the only one that would be any benefit to you in the back is a bypass but you dont need them until you do the better springs. All you really need is a good smooth body shock with a reservoir and you will be good to go.

The down side to all this is that once you do the back with better shocks and springs, you will want to upgrade the fronts to get rid of the ranchos because they are holding it way back from its potential.

Now after all that, and you want to just do a bolt on shock for now, id personally go with a procomp mx6 (for a little adjustability) or a bilstein 5100.

Yea budgets not a problem at the moment and thanks for l that info that's extremely helpful, I didn't even think about the leaf springs so I'll start there I don't want to further upgrades till I cover all the major points first, the fab work isn't an issue I can handle that too but do you have any good sites to check out these parts on I've been surfing poly performance but there about the best I could find at the moment

Start looking on race-dezert.com and dezertrangers.com in the classifieds and you will find lots of used parts. If you want new springs, call up deaver http://www.deaverspring.com/ or national http://www.nationalsprings.com and talk to them. when you want to go with big boy shocks, there is king, fox, bilstein, foa, swayaway, ads, and a few others.

poly is a good site for lots of things but are high on some of there prices. there is also http://www.kartek.com/ http://www.offroadwarehouse.com/ http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/ http://www.offroad-engineering.com/ http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/ and many more that are out there. it all depends on what you are looking for.
