'92 4runner w/ overdrive issues
#1
Hello,
I've got a '92 4runner automatic. When it's cold it won't drop into overdrive on the highway for up to a minute. Is this common? I don't remember it doing that in the past, but was it designed not to until the engine is warm? Is the overdrive somehow connected to the thermostat?
Thanks for the help and I can provide more details if they are needed.

A quick search would have wielded you with a recent thread about the same thing.....
Yes. Its common. Overdrive won't kick in until up to operating temperatures and above 35mph. even if your gauge reads operating temp, doesnt meant your engine actually is.
