Only if you have the E locker. Someone correct me if Im wrong, But I think the non elocker Taco 3rds are bigger (8.4 inch ring gear)

"'86-95 4cyl Turbo and V6* trucks and 4runners, and ALL '96+ 4Runners use the Toyota 8" 4-pinion differential in the rear. "

'95-03 Tacoma, '00-04 Tundra, ?? Sequoia's, and 96-02 4Runners have a high-pinion 7.5" IFS front diff offset to the drivers side

'86-95 IFS trucks and 4Runners, and all '93-98 T100s use a 7.5" front diff that is offset to the passenger's side

So they are the same size?
But the offset is opposite..but that would still work, correct?

None of your 92 4Runner stuff will fit in a Tacoma.
Different beast.

Thanks for playing, better luck next time.

86-95 front 7.5" ring gears are "regular cut" whereas 95.5+ Tacoma front 7.5" ring gears are "reverse cut." So no on that.

The only thing that might transfer over would be the rear end gears. But, you didn't provide enough info about the two trucks.

If your 4Runner has a V6, and your differential is still the V6 diff, AND the Tacoma rear diff is the Elocker differential, then yes, the rear ring and pinion gears can be used in the Elocker diff.
If the Tacoma is non TRD and does not have the Elocker, then refer to my previous post.

Mine is the v6.. factory 4.88s
Not sure about the tacoma...its actually not mine..yet.
Its a 96 5speed that was wrecked (purely cosmetic besides ripping off the passenger side tire/hub) and then the 3rd was sold from the rear, and the entire differential from the front... I was planning on buying the truck and throwing the 3.4 and 5 speed into my runner, but then decided it would be MUCH easier to replace the few things from the Tacoma...
I dont really know anything about Tacos, and gears confuse me lol
Appreciate the help..

The easiest thing would be to put your WHOLE rear axle in the Tacoma, even thought it will be a little narrower, however, your front will not fit so you'll have to gear it.

There really two different animals your dealing with here. 96 is the first year of the Taco, and they changed quite a bit of stuff from the 50-95 3rd gens.
