90 4 runner.. HELP PLEASE!!!
Hey everyone!!
I need some help please!! I have a 1990 4 runner automatic v6 with about 325000 km on it. I took it out
to the bush to do some camping and it got me there with
no problems at all. But when I went to go 4x4ing on saturday morning she started but when i put it into gear it does nothing. The idel changes as if its put into gear it just doesnt move. It doesnt go even in 4wd. If i put my foot right to the ground with 5000 rpm she moves maybe an inch. Is this my transmission??? I've done a lot of work to this truck in the last year and cant really believe this is happening. Any ideas would be helpful!!
Thanks everyone!!!

check your ATF level. it will be slipping if you are too low. but by now you would have fried the tranny. if you are low, add fill it back up and hope it moves. check for leaking seals or a cracked case. also, if you have a tranny cooler, look around the lines. had a problem like that in my lexus.

not really, but the lexus was falling a part (92 sc400). it had other unrelated problems so i sold it to a dismantler that wanted the engine. The lexus had been parked for a while because the trans was slipping. i had to put in 4 quarts of atf to get it moving. leaked about a quart every 50 miles near the trans cooler lines (i probably cracked the case or busted a fitting). not worth the repair so i sold it to a dismantler.
