Nope i never got the chance to find out. I got strung up and irritated with it that i went on a slight rampage and tore the engine out. Waiting to find a small 350 chevy or some thing to drop in it when i get the money.

doesnt sound too bad, I thought clearence and mating surface for the tranny, and clearence for the steering and suspension were going to be the bigger issues.

Whoa, Putting in another type engine is a major undertaking. Not to mention expensive. You will need the adapter, motor mounts, exhausts, and radiator. Just for a start. You could buy another vehicle for what you will spend doing it. If you cant figure out whats ticking in a 22r. You dont have the experience to swap another brand engine. Trust me.

LOL, it was just a what if question. I have no intention of even going that route, and the ticking I had wasnt from the timing chain, it was an exhaust leak.

Was addressing metalhead tearing out his engine in a rampage and looking for a 350 to install in its place. Best thing he could have done was take his to a shop. Usually ticking is small stuff. Knocking is another issue. A timing chain issue sounds like a diesel running. Not a tick, not a knock, somewhere in between. Best explanation I have for it. Glad you found your exhaust leak. Now if I could solve my sometime, gas leak down overnight.

I agree with tinkertoy, Its alot of work to do, keep the 22R its a great motor, it not only cost ALOT less to fix whatever/and where ever that sound is coming from, The Engine itself will last twice as long as a 350, and it will save u $$ on Gas, My 3.0 is putting a dent in my wallet, I couldnt imagine what a 350 will cost on Gas.

22R
Pros- Will last 300K, Gets in the 20s MPG wise, can get you from Point A-B, and Its already in your engine compartment.
Cons- Power is the only Con, Its a 4 Cyl, give it a break.

350
Pro- Power/TQ

Cons- V8, Way less MPGs, Cost more $$ to get, and put in ur engine compartment if there is even room for it, more $ to buy all the excess parts you need and to get it installed, May have to customize a few things to get it in there, thats more $$, WILL NOT last as long as a 22R will.

Power (350) < Reliability (22R)...My opinion on the Matter, but by all means do what you want if u have 10 Grand just sittin around then go ahead
