5vzfe Water Pump replacement w/o changing timing belt?
#1
From what I see in my FSM it looks like you can replace the water pump without having to mess with the timing belt, is this possible? I know for sure the timing belt is good and I suspect the water pump to have gone out prematurely due to only water being ran through the cooling system instead of coolant. ( not my car btw).

Since the timing belt drives the water pump your going to remove it any way.
Sure water pumps get changed all the time or other front engine parts.
The timing belt can be reused but you are messing with it no matter what.
Just how many miles as your right there .
No matter what you have to go through the process the same as if installing a new belt.
Do you have the tool for pressing the tensionor in and putting the safety pin in??

Thank you both for the quick reply's, after looking up some parts online I realized the part I was seeing was the fan bracket as the picture in the fsm looked similar to the water pump on a 350 small block.
