Is a 5 speed tranny the same on a v6 3.0 and 4cly 22re Im talking year 1989.

 

The only transmissions that can be used in both the 22RE and 3vze are the R150F (3VZE) and the R151F (22RE). If you used the R151 you will need the bellhousing from the R150F to use it behind a 3VZE. Other than that, no all the other transmissions are not compatible.

Since you have a 22RE, there are a lot more transmission out there that you can use.
