4runner trans stuck in p

08 4runner 42k miles hard to shift out of park intermitten problem has done it 3 times now shift will move to the right, but will not drop down into any other gear

I'll bet it's the shift-lock interrupt switch. It's probably not telling your shifter the brake pedal is being pushed.
