4cyl 8" Detroit LocKer in 3rd Gen 4Runner?
I have been reading around and as far as I understand a Detroit locker for a 8" mini-truck diff will fit all of the 3rd Gen 4 runners? I have a rear 4cyl 3rd member for my 86 that has been in a non-running truck for a couple years and prob a couple more before I get around to it. It has a Detroit w/ low miles (like 1,000) in it. Can I just scavenge this locker and put it in the rear of a 4Runner?
*And before it is said, I drove those 1,000 miles with a full locker on the street and I have absolutely no problem with a full locker in a DD vehicle.
Thanks,
Joe

I read that link. It is the one that got me thinking that it would fit. I am not trying to swap 3rd members, I am trying to swap out the locker. As far as I can tell the internals are the same, it is the 3rd member housing that is different (stronger).
That link, nor anything I else I read helped me determine if it would work 100%.
EDIT: Just saw where the 4cyl and V6 locker model numbers were different on NW offroad. Oh well. Thanks anyway!

according to the "if the correct bearings are used" link, you can...
But check out the axle spline part... If they're the same... Then go for it.
