It lives!!!

It runs like a toy should...but the temp gauge doesn't work and I think we put too much antifreeze cause it's overheating. It's noisy cause of a big hole in the exhaust, but that just makes it sound cool. Made it to the store and back twice...more tweaking on it today!!!

I took some pics...will post...but...it runs great, but it overheating at higher RPM's. Radiator is good. Needs flushing...will idle all day long at half-sensor on the gauge. Replacing loose fan clutch in a few minutes, and flushing it. Might be a failing water pump, but the water pump doesn't squeal. I have a spare...
...have thought about head and gasket...but the gasket is new, has less than 5 miles on it...
...will keep updating...may be running rich...any suggestions?

Unplugged the fuel pump and since gas was still flowing through it, we thought it was ok. Using the manual pump on the engine. Please let me know how this affects things...
Changed the fan clutch and water pump, installed new 180 degree thermostat, and put a new rad cap with a pop switch on. Round the block again, and it never reached high enough to be out of "normal" but I'll bet that if it had been daytime it would have. Idle water temp with cap off to burp was 190, thermostat opened when it should have, and regular temp gauge showed about a quarter of the way up. It's stays under halfway at idle no matter how long, but soon as you run it a mile or two, it goes up.
Am not sure if the carb it tweaked correctly nor am I sure that the distributor is where it needs to be. It's idling at about 1200 rpm. Almost sounds a bit high. Running 93 octane because it had sat for a while darn near empty, so I was attempting to "even out" any bad gas.
Still open to suggestions, and please, explanations cause I am learning as I go...
