Question 285's on a stock Tacoma?

Can someone tell me how bad 285/75/16 BFG MT's would rub on a stock 01' SR5 4x4 Tacoma. The truck has the stock slanted 5 spoke 16's on it and I was just wondering if I could get away with mounting the tires untill the lift arrives. I picked up the tires for cheap, earlier than expected and I'm dying to see them mounted.

i had 33's on my 98 taco, with 3' northwest off road lift, on my stock rims and they rubed alittle bit. they rubed on the right side frame and would rub on the fender well when i hit big bumps. hope this helps a little, but i think that i would wait until i get the lift if that is possibe.

YOu will rub very badly. This would do damage to the tires for certain. I had a 99 Taco with 285's and 3"of lift and like stated above still had some rubbing.

I do not advice this route for your truck.

Just to ditto Eric and also emphasize that with the MUDs the rubbing would be even worse.

On my stock height I rubbed pretty good with 265/75/16s

On a related topic: Why can you run bigger tires on pre-taco's and older 4runners, etc? I'm thinking about putting a set of 285's on my '94 and dont expect too much rubbing at all.
