22re to 22r specs
I have read all the threads I can find on the site about converting a 22re to a 22r motor, but one thing that seems to be unclear is if the intake ports on the heads are the same. What I want to do is switch my efi intake with a carb intake manifold and put a carb on it. I have a 1989 22re engine. Would this be possible?

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
it would be... but it would also be a waste of a good EFI.
And you won't have as much power, your cyl. walls will degrade faster and it won't get as good MPG.
And if you want it to be really good off road, a carb will stumble at angles and EFI will not.
Personally, I don't see why anybody would want to do this. It can seriously f with your truck in the future...

Not sure why anyone would want to do this. are you unfamiliar with EFI? they are really simple on that truck.
i think you would have to get an intake manifold from a non-efi, post 85 block, since they changed the block design in 85
I wouldn't do it though, it will only cause problems in the future.

Is it possible to have a carb 22RE? Bought pickup off a guy that claimed it was rebuilt and had to replace front main seal and pulled the threads out of timing cover when I was bolting the water pump back on, bought new timing cover for 87 22RE and it was too short...any ideas?
