22R / RE compatibility

22R / RE compatibility
Hi,
I have a 1984 4x4 pickup with a 22R and I'm wondering if I find a replacement engine that is an RE will I be able to "convert" it back to the carbureted 22R version? I know I can use the RE if I get the ECU but wanted to know if I wanted to keep it carbureted if that was possible?
