New here guys so please inform me if I'm navigating the site the wrong way. Just picked up a 2003 Tacoma Double Cab. I too have a situation where the 4wd does not engage. My mechanic buddy tapped on the actuator located on the transfer case and the 4wd light came on on the dash but the front diff did not engage. He's a Toyota nut and figures he can take it apart and clean it and it will work but I would prefer to have the problem narrowed down somewhat so I can try and find the parts needed to get it working.


Any help offered is certainly appreciated.

 

You should probably make your own thread. I don't do Tacos because I don't have the EWD's/FSM or know the specifics of the years--I'm a 4Runner guy. But I'm sure someone can help you. Try and be very specific about how you know the front diff is not engaging and what happens in each of the 4wd modes available to you.
