Welcome! Lucky your seller seems to be an honest person at least after the fact. Seller may very well have known the HG was gone and put sealer in the cooling system to bide time. So, you are out of that vehicle and can search for another, yes?

You might be able to save some money using rockauto.com
The dnj kits are really well made..... DO NOT USE FELPRO ON THIS MOTOR!
DNJ ENGINE COMPONENTS Part # HGS965 states they offer an upper rebuild kit for under 160 and I use them. They haven't blown on me yet and I abuse them harsh like in deep mud and hard off road driving.
Might make it more affordable
