1990 22re rebuild bugs

Hi i'm new here and i own my first Toyota. I just replaced the head(fully loaded New) along with a new TC cover/TC with steel back guides water pump and oil pump. The weird thing is when i try to do the timing its WAY...out. almost at 10 o'clock and if I run a tooth back to set it at 5* the truck is totally gutless and undrivable.(could it be gutless cuz of vacume issues?) I'm worried i have the chain a tooth off but when i was adjusting the valve lash i got 0 tdc with cam gear discolored link rite on point...so is it possible that I have the distributor a tooth off? I installed it with the rotor at #1 plug wire. any help would be great. I have plenty of exp with mopars but this little yota has me stumped...lol
I've always loved these little truck/4runners they're tanks in south fl

Dowel on the cam is at tdc or 5 tdc w/e the 22re is when the #1 piston is at tdc? If so check dizzy timing with a timing light. Also what year is the motor and what year was the timing chain for? Has the head or block ever been decked?

crank at tdc and cam dowel will tdc as well. the head is new and i didn't deck the block it checked out to not need it.(used a machinist straight edge) I didn't check my gapes inside the dist yet. I'm going to do that now. I will also check the numbers on the block to double check what year it is. The TC set is for a 1990.

the gap in my pick-up mod is .010 so thats good but I'm only reading 30 ohm's. I'm going to barrow the neighbors tester and double check it. I'm going to run the codes too I just have to find out how. I'm sure it's on here somewhere.

The numbers on the block won't help you any, look up apicture oof a 22re lazer block and look for that Saturn shaped casting on the block. If its got that your good. (Making sure you got the right length chain)

If all your timing stuff checks out move on and make sure you reconnected all the lines and plugs correctly and that there's no globs of grease or anything blocking up any of them. after that you might do a compression or leak down test make sure the new head/head gasket are good. I've had bad luck with new parts lol

Also do you have a factory manuel for it? It will help you find your problem.if you don't you can get one here free http://web.archive.org/web/201209012...fsm/index.html
I mentioned the fsm because I don't mess with the re's often so i can't remember everything I need to help you and i dont want to give you bad info especially about the timing. If I remember right there's something you have to jump and somthing you have to disconnect when timing the re's

Yes the block has the Saturn casting by the motor mount and i didn't think to spray out the connectors these Yota's use a lot of goop huh. the leak down was good. I think i'm chasing mods and connections at this point cuz the codes came back with 13,24,31,43,51. TY for the link a Haynes or Chilton can only go so far.
Thank you very much for your time and help

Ok I've got it all worked out it was the TPS and after that it was just some minor adjustments. It runs real strong now. Thank you for your help.
