What state are you in?

Check the rules your state follows in regards to insurance claims.

if i am not mistaken, in california you can take the vehicle anywhere you want to have the work done. the insurance company has no say in who does the work.

The money part is up to you, make sure you get at least three estimates by reputable shops, make sure you specify that you want original toyota parts as replacements, that you will not accept aftermarket. Get the qoutes and get them to the insurance company and dont let the adjuster low ball you, stick to your qoutes and fight for all of your money so you can get the toyota parts.

My insurance agent is really good, i talk to him when i have a problem and we arok it out. Make sure you present any problems you have and try to work it out.

Hope it helps,

Sorry about the runner. Hope everyone is doing ok and did not get hurt.

Thanks for info. Ins adjuster is giving me a choice to go to a Mazda Collision dealer very highly rated in area, or give me a check - but want to be sure they'll give me enough. Hoping this forum could give me a ball park #. Hoping they can replace whole bumper in 1 pc vs trying to touch up damage. I'll look to see if any Toyota collision folks in this area. Thankfully, no injuries - not a hard enough hit. All OK.

I've never seen a Toyota dealership that has a collision center around here...all local shops. Do like the first poster said, three estimates w/ ALL OEM parts and then pick which one you'd like to have fix it and then have them write you a check to fix it and take it where you want. Done it many times.

heres what you need to do:

1.if the bumper is salvagable then tell them to do so. thatll keep it original w/ vin code. a lot of time when bumpers are are dented in, a magical heater gun will undo the deformation. btw, new bumper will not have vin #.

2.hire a lawyer to get some money for pain and suffering. you got a yr(might be diff in ur area) to claim the money. only reason why youre insured. more money in ur pocket.

There's the reason I'm paying so much for insurance, if you don't have pain and suffering then claiming it is fraud, and that money comes from our pockets, not the insurance company's.
