VSC Off & VCS Track coming on 03 4runner

For the past week I've been having the VSC Off & VCS Tracck lights coming on in the morning on my 03 4Runner? THe odd this only happens when the temp is below 20 degrees. The come on a minute or two after I start up and then I have to restart in order to clear the lights. This is the only time they come on. If I start the truck later in the day to come home from work (even if it's below 20 degrees) they don't come on.....just once a day during the first start-up when it's cold? Very strange.....

I'm going to call the dealer today but wondered if any one else had this happen?

Dealer said that Toyota was aware of this problem and the computer needs to be updated.....we'll that's what they told me. They're going to call me Tues or Wed so I'll let you know what the outcome is.

My VSC operates some mornings when going from Reverse to Drive on a slight hill at the foot of my drive. I think it may be the Hill Start Assist but the VSC light flickers.

I got my mirrors!

They should have the TSB on these too! I got them done on my 03 Sport.. I just wish they were illuminated. Does anyone have copies or PDF of these TSB's? I'd be interested in reading more about each one.

Goodtimes,

I received a letter this summer regarding the vanity mirrors. It wasn't on a TSB though. It was put out on a Limited Service Campaign. Thus, it allows them to avoid a recall on the truck. I had the mirrors put in my truck. Wife is pissed because they are not illuminated. You would think for $33K they could be illuminated. Call Toyota or the dealer. The dealer ordered mine for me no problem.

I would link all of these if I could but its a company perk to be able to look at them so I have a unique secure access.

Not all apply to all vehicles..thats just a screen dump of all for the 4th gen so obviously, some of them pre-date production of your particular vehicle.

I could try and save a PDF of each if someone could host.

Perhaps I could burn them on a CD and mail it to "Tando-man"

Gentlemen,
I posted this in another section and was advised to post it here to hopefully get an answer or ideas.

I've searched several forums and have read some solutions, this forum seems to always have the best advice and answers so...

My daughter just purchased a 2008 4Runner on the 2nd day the CHECK ENGINE warning light came on, the "Skidding Car" (sorry) came on and the VSC OFF waring light is flashing.

Several forums state to unscrew and put fuel cap back on with one click only, then disconnect the positive battery connection for 30 seconds and re-connect to clear warning lights.

Did that procedure and indeed warning lights were off when restarting engine and driving BUT 2 1/2 days later, same trouble, did procedure again and corrected again...then another 2 1/2 days later warning lights come back on. The warning lights have not come on while being driven, the come on when the car is started on the occasions it has happened. I've ordered a new gas cap hoping that IS the problem and since it takes the 2 days for the warning lights to come on I'm thinking the VSC system is really OK.

I did have the codes checked and was told it was an emissions code, I'll have to go back and do it again and get the actual number.

So I'm looking for some advice or other possibilities creating the problem.
