V6 or V8 Help me Decide Wich way to go
#21
You get 20-21 on the highway,
the V8 guys are getting 19-20 on the highway
Around town V6 gets 17-18
The V8 guys are getting 16-17.
Don't interject personal adjectives like "Way" or "SOOO Much" to describe facts. Also, this guy was not asking if you turbo the motor how much power you can get. Makes no sense. Hell we could twin turbo the v8 and get more than 400hp easy too... Sorry just rubbed me the wrong way.

The V6 is WAY more efficient. Dr. Dip#%$@ Oh I can articulate my speech too. And yes I do get those #'s for mpg but it is about to go down due to an increase in tire size. Turbo charging is WAY the WAY to go if you are looking for horsepower while maintaining MPG. The V6 VVT-i allows for more air compression than the V8.
Bye Bye Chitown4x4..oh and I was just offering info to the guy so piss off.

How many of you live in alaska? oh none...hmmm There are several people getting above 18 in town and mid to high 20's up here. I own 2 4RUNNER's. Ambient air temp, humidity, elevation, rolling resistance, these are called "variables" for the unaware. These mpg's are fall and spring time with the ambient temp around 60-65 F. Hwy speed 55MPH city 40-45 MPH. Believe What you want. It makes no mind to me. It's funny you V8 guys are just trying to justify the V8 when in a 4RUNNER you don't need it for anything. Oh by the way the V8 is no faster. If one or the other has beat each-other in stock form it's because the EFI CPU has calibrated it's self to different driving conditions. V8 only tows more that's it!
Good luck with the V8 lasting as long as the V6.

I can get high 20's on the highway. I am in Canada so the readout is in l/100 km. I can get around 8-9 l/100 km on the highway with minimal elevation gain/loss at about 80-90 km/h. That is 26-29 mpg at 50-55 miles per hour. That is a best case generally averaged over about 200 km (120 miles). Driving faster, or in poor weather, or with a load is noticeably worse. Overall average for all highway driving with varying loads, speeds and conditions I get 11 l/100 km (21 mpg). I have a stock truck (03 V6 Sport with highway tires)

The condensed version is that you get good MPGs driving 55 miles per hour down hill at 60F. Well guess what, so do I. The problem is those conditions only occur during less than 5% of an average person's driving. Take off your rose colored glasses. As Will notes he averages 21 MPG on the freeway. This I believe as it is inline with every other 4th gen owner I know. FWIW I average 21 MPG on the freeway as well, including my mods.

Yeah i get 21 MPG doing 75-80 I never stated I didn't. I merely stated that the V6 is capable of amazing MPG's if care is taken. Stop trying to cause an argument. Just go and cry to mama and get over it. As for the mileage I claim that is the type of driving I regularly do. Sorry if you drive around with your foot to the floor. Maybe you can learn to be a bit more conservative with time. Have a great senior high school trip mac4runner. Clearly everything has to be your way so you must still be a teenager. Wisdom will come with time and experience.

Just setting a more realistic experience of gas mileage for others who might find this thread in the future. Thanks for the personal attacks though. Go back and re-read the thread, you clearly feel the need to escalate whenever someone has a difference of opinion. Wisdom may come with time and experience, but evidently maturity does not.

Thanks mac daddy. You are the one going back over conversations. I was being called a liar from you and another member. You and the other member stated that the mileage I was getting was IMPOSSIBLE. Which it is not. Drive light footed and try it out. You might be suprised even with a V8.

03-05 have weaker internals 06+ has no problem to 450 hp (centrifigal s/c or turbo NOT roots) so far. Have not hear of hp #'s higher than 450 yet. But anything above 400 hp will tear up the rest of the stock running gear quickly. There is a reason pressurizing manifold air pressure above atmospheric isn't standard practice. Just my 2 C. People loosing their motors could also be to over boosting or in-accurate fuel mapping.
