Transmission Clunk, 07 Tacoma

This has happened twice over a two week period.

Engine cold, sitting for 24 hours.
Start up, put in drive, take the brake off and it won't go. Feels like the brake is still on.
Give it some gas and WHAM! A loud clank and it goes into gear and drives perfectly.
The second time it happened rather than give it gas I put it into neutral and then back into drive and this solved the problem.
Any ideas??

Take it to the dealer. Is it still under warranty?

Warrantys are our friends! I make a point to bring my truck to the over priced dealers every time I find an issue that might need addressing.

Yep, he has got 28K worth left (I think drivetrain is 60k so 52k) Take it to the dealer, though it almost sounds like your parking brake is sticking...
Not sure but there may have been a TSB on it;
Go here http://www.empirepao.com/
on the left side of webpage look at tech and click on TSBs (stupid direct linky won't work for some reason)
Dealership should be able to take care of you, and if they don't tell them you want to talk to regional guy....Toyota in some cases seem to be less than cooperative in some cases on the latest generation of Tacos

havent found a tsb. i did tell the technician about it when i brought it in for alignemnt. as i suspected there isnt much they can do if they cannot reproduce the problem. i also spoke with my mechanic who thought it could be a brake issue. i still have to bring it back for more alignment crap so i may ask for a brake inspection and a transmission inspection while it is there. thanks for the replies.
