Tighter Suspension for 05 Runner Help?

Most folks here are looking to raise their Runner for 4 Wheeling. But what about for on-road usage? I'd like to tighten up the handling.

I was thinking just throwing on 4 Bilsten shocks and maybe Addco Sway Bars on front and rear.

Any thoughts? Are both necessary? Should I be doing something else? Is the stock system as good as it will get (especially when considering the costs to replace)?

I don't mind feeling all the bumps and lowering the car a bit; I just want to decrease roll and feel more confident swithing lanes, etc (I am used to a sports car )

Thank you!

I was just thinking the same thing on my ride into work this morning. I drive and 04 Runner SR5. How can we control the roll and pitch in the suspension. I drive in heavy traffic stop and go on the freeway and whenever I hit the brakes moderately the truck seems to nose dive. I've had some things sitting in the passengers seat fly on to the floor quite a few times. This didn't happen in my 03 Tacoma with the stiffer suspension.

I am looking for a little lift and I've heard that with the spacer lifts preloading the springs a little, that it stiffens the suspension some. Does this help with the roll and pitch?

Using the addco sway bars will greatly improve your roll through turns. I would recommend getting them.

As for pitch, as mikgrail3 mentioned, will not only level your truck from its raked position, but also reduce the amount of pitch and some roll from the stiffer springs.

So you think the Addco Sway Bars will have more of an impact than Bilstein Shocks?

Are tighter springs necessary too?

Stiffer springs used in conjunction with new anti-sway bars like the ones mentioned in a previous posting, we be your ticket. Most springs with a higher spring rate(stiffer) we give you lift though, and thus raise your center of gravity. Not really what you want for burning the turns! I think that Eibach may make some springs that are about 1 in. lower and stiffer too.

Are the Addco sway bars even available for the 4th gen? I looked and didn't see them listed. My X-Reas is getting a bit long in the tooth (93k) suspension is okay, I'm getting more rool than when it was new.

No leaks or anything.

ETA, what do they run and can the regual local tire joint install them?

Would you want to put another X-Reas on?

How can you tell which one it is?

If it is Bilstein, is it correct to assume it is a softer Bilstein model?

Is there a reference to determine exactly what parts came w/ your model?

Also, someone recommended putting on bigger tires for handling but then someone told me it would kill my MPG???
