Made it back to Norcal in my new Taco (pics)

Well after spending 3 weeks back in Idaho on vacation and picking up my new Tacoma it was time yesterday to make the trip back to Norcal. I have to say there is no comparison to driving for 18 hours in a brand new truck compared to my underpowered 12 year old 4-runner. Let's just say the Taco ran pretty good across Nevada and everywhere else for that matter. Pretty impressive to be able to accelerate in 6th gear at 75mph with 285's. Anyways here are a few more pics of it.

The runner and the Taco united for the first time

The Taco with the plane I rented and flew all over the Idaho backcountry last weekend

Just a poser shot in front of my house

Lookin' good Joey.

You should find that the silver hides dirt better than the white.

My rig always looks clean, even when it has not been washed in over a week or more.

Hey UK! Long time no hear... nice looking truck [and plane] personally I'm still not sure I like the looks of those weird arch fenders, to me it looks like something is just wrong... but thats my opinion. How goes the job still flying sideways in the galaxy? They got you doing any milkruns to those 2 garden spots of the world? I love your rims and rubber... good thing your too far away I might have to make a Midnite requisition.

Aviator I was stuck in Gander Newfoundland not too long ago for a week with the C-5.

Thanks for the comments guys. I was just looking at the pics and realized that the Taco is a little taller than the Runner. It is definately longer too. I had to move some crap around in my garage to get it to fit. Poor ol runner has to sit outside now. For those that are wondering the Tacos with the 4.0 are a blast to drive. It's not quite as a peppy as it was with the stock tires but with the 6 speed it still does pretty dang good. Wet pavement is a little bit scary. It's not as fast off the line but I'd say from a roll it would run with a SCed 3.4. Stay tuned for a Borla sound clip.

What engine is the 4.0? 1GR-FE? If so, those are cool... my mom has one in her 4Runner. What kind of gas mileage did you get on your trip?

Welcome back.

Nice looking rig. When are you going to take it out and break it in with some California dirt?

That be the one.. I haven't added up my fuel log yet but looking at the numbers it looks like I probably averaged around 17 on my trip back. I had the 4 OEM tires and wheels in the back and about 200 lbs of other crap though. Not quite as good as I had hoped but it's not so bad getting that kind of mileage when you actually have power.

There are worse places to get stuck [Iqaluit for instance]. now tells me bouy did yeh gets yer fill of cod and lobster bouy?

What happened to the C-5? You do realise that all the maintenance and parts are provided by the lowest bidder right? Or did we flip the wrong switch... goof when we should have gaffed so to speak?

Stay safe blue skies aviator
