Iphone adapter for JBL 6disk head unit, what is best?
Anyone out there know the best and cheapest way to make the JBL unit in an 04Runner ipod friendly? totally new head unit or is there a adapter that is worthy of giving a try? Right now we are using the cassette tape and I hate it, not that it sounds totally bad but there is a big drop in the bass. Thanks for the input

I've used the cassette tape adapters and radio transmitting ones, and the quality on both were horrible, and you have to keep going back to the iPhone or iPod to change and select songs
The best route if you're looking for pure simplicity and sound quality is to go the route of an aftermarket head unit that either has a USB input that will allow control of an iPhone/iPod when connected to it with the cable, or even has a stand alone iPhone/iPod input.
I just installed just such a unit in my 06 Taco and routed the USB cable into the glove box. I no longer have an iPhone, but it allows me to at least be able to load almost my entire music library to a USB drive and toss it in the glove box out of site, instead of having to juggle CDs while driving.
Alternatively, you can also just get an aftermarket radio that has an AUX input, and pick up a male to male 3.5mm headphone jack cable. Then just plug one end into the head unit and the other end into the headphone port on the iPhone. This route still gives good quality (I also use this with my head unit to play internet radio in the truck, also with this cable routed to the glove box with the USB cable), but you still have to go to the phone any time you want to change stations or skip songs. But at least the quality is really good.
