Question Hub Centric or Lug Centric?

I've got an 04 4Runner SR5 4WD with 17 inch wheels. Are my wheels hub, or lug, centric?

Likely lug centric, but the easy way to tell is look closely where the wheel meets the hub. If you see a gap between the wheel center hole and the hub, then the hub is not centering the wheel.

On my '85 4Runner, there is at least a 1/8" gap all the way around between the hub and the wheel. And when you put the wheel on the hub, you need to lift it up and align the lug holes with the studs. So the lug studs and nuts both center the wheel and hold it to the hub.

On my VW, you can put the wheel onto the hub and it slips over a centering ring and will sit there without any of the lug bolts installed. In fact you put the wheel on like that and then you thread each lug bolt into place, so all the lug bolts do is hold the wheel to the hub, it is already centered.

All factory toyota alloys are Lug-centric
