Brake Rotors?

Brake Rotors?
I did a search but maybe i'm blind. A friend of mine needs to change his front rotors on his '03 4runner. 1st ? is how do they come off? Is it as simple as taking the caliper and caliper bracket off then knocking the rotor off or do you have to go into the hub? I have never done rotors before but we are going to try and tackle it. Also, he is looking for a better rotor because he pulls a boat and doesn't want to warp them again. He was looking at the Raybestos brand at advance auto. Any suggestions? Thanks.

To change the rotors I would suggest getting a repair manual, even though there is nothing special about replacing them on the 4Runner. As far as the braking system on the 4th gen 4Runner; it is a great design using top quality components (including 4 piston calipers). The SR5 model, with the 16" wheels, have smaller rotors then the Sport and Limited with the 17" wheels. Make sure you get the right rotors because the Sport rotors will not work with the 16" wheels. Both braking systems are very good systems and I would not recommend using ANY aftermarket parts, not even pads. There have been many 4Runner owners towing at/near the maximum tow rating using only the OEM system with no problems at all.

On the '03 the SR5 and Limited have the same rotors... The Sport is the only one with the different size.
I'm still holding out for the Brembo rotors, though they only make them for the rear at this time. I am very unhappy with the OEM rotors.
