AH64ID's 07 Taco Buildup
Well the buildup has begun. Small so far, but begun it has. I picked the truck up last saturday, not 3 hours after climbing out of the cockpit from a 3 day flight up from Texas.
First thing to go in was the hourmeter. No there is really no good reason to have one, but I wanted one. I used a relay attached to the OEM oil pressure switch.

Then the Scangauge II went in. Its temporarily mounted on the steering column. I would like to put it somewhere else, thou I dont know where.

Then this morning the level kit went it. Its a two piece spacer kit from cornfedsuspensions. Dave normally sells a 2" kit, but I didnt want that much, so I had him machine the top plate spacer down to only provide .75" lift. The spacer setup is aluminim for the top plate spacer, and plastic for the spring spacer. Very nice quality kit. The instructions left a little to be desired, but I have emailed Dave with some suggestions.

CV angle at full droop. The top plate allows for .75" extra droop, which is very nice. The CV angle is fine at full droop.

I agree on the stance.
I am stull unsure what tires I will run, I may stick with the 70 series if it allows more room for chains. I am already pretty sure I am going to have to run 1" wheel spacers up front to get my HD chains to clear the upper control arm.

yea, that stance is perfect, 2 inches i think would be too much. o yea, do the rear set of lights first, i want to see how you do that. lol. i need some ideas. right now all i can think of is a bed bar with some lights

Looks good and welcome back! Next remove the front mudflaps. I am going to remove mine and then trim my rear ones up a little. They hang so low and don't bend very well. That scangauge would be pretty trick in the back of the pull down compartment that is low and left of the steering wheel.

if you are going to remove the flaps do it soon, I waited about a year and mine left some scratches on the side of my flares where they wrap around a little. I have had mind off for awhile and not gotten any new scratches, the paint on the rockers is thicker and has the orange peel, with stock tires I wouldn't worry too much they aren't open enough to pick up rocks and stuff.
Spacers may be good for you since you could put them on only when you know you will need to use the chains and not run them otherwise.

Do yourself and your beautiful vehicle a favor, get some WeatherTech Floor Liners for your truck. I had them and they worked very well.

If you want some extra interior parts let me know. I still have the wiring for electronic brake assist, cup holder divider, and the divider + mag light holder for behind the rear seat. Actually, I have an extra bed bolt (hook rope assembly?). Also, I ordered a Pro Clip Dash Mount, it snaps on (no screws) to the dash near the environmental controls to hold a cell phone, I-pod, or Sat Radio, it is actually still in its package. You can use it to mount your Scan Gauge II.

I haven't owned weather-tech but if i had it to do over again i would have spent the extra on those over the Toyota all-weather ones.

With the 1" spacers, don't you think you'd be fine with a 75 series, like 265/75/16, with chains? In some cases, the 75 series tire is actually cheaper than the 70 series for the same model. You'd get a bit more height without really sacrificing much for suspension performance. Plus - it would probably fill that wheel well a bit better. Just an opinion - replacing those Rugged Trails with just about anything will improve performance immensely....

Gotcha (brain fart)... yeah it will all depend. 265/70 and 265/75 are the same width. Its the clearance to the upper a-arm the 1" wheel spacer will allow for... I will be spending plenty of time flexing and measuring this summer before ordering tires.

After the first road road trip we got 19.2 mpg (well 19.198 by the math and 19.2 on the scangauge). on the first leg and 19.8 on the second leg. What a great truck.... the 5 speed auto is awesome.. when it down shifts on grades it wont upshift until the apex of the hill, even if you relax the throttle. So many features I love...



See, I have nothing up there to hinder such a mod on my SR5, if I had a scanguage.
