The radiator in my chevy was an aluminum core with plastic reservoirs pressed into the sides, it was not re-buildable. It leaked, and could not be rebuilt. So I sold it and bought a Tacoma!! LOL!!!

Honestly I would give the guy that cut it a serious ass whooping. Or at least make him pony up for the cost of the radiator. If this is not an option... Well, buy a new one and it will not be difficult to install.

I guess I got to this thread a bit late, the cap that was cut into could have been replaced. Out here there is a shop that carries replacement one's.

cap? it was basically a slice in the radiator itself, near the bottom. it had been repaired before, but just started leaking again, so i figured i'd go ahead and have it replaced and be done with it so as not to have to worry about it all the time in the future knowing it'd eventually deteriorate anyway.

The radiator consist of 3 main components, the core, top cap and bottom cap. The core is made of aluminum and the caps are of a plastic blend, then there is the straps that hold these parts together. Usually these can't be purchased separately, but there are a few specialty radiator repair shops that have access to replacement components.
