4th gen questions

Got a couple of questions regarding 4th gens, namely the sport edition and the SR5.

1) Since the SR5 comes w/ 16" stock wheels and the sport has 17" wheels, do they have the same front rotor sizes? The hilux surf book in Japan says the front rotor is 16", but that can't apply to 16" wheels (the book lists 17" as the wheel size, at least for the SSR-G). If one pays for the 17" wheel upgrade, does that include larger front rotors?

2) Does anyone like the X-REAS or have any regrets? If, say, OME comes out w/ shocks for the 4th gen, do you just disconnect all the X-REAS air lines? What electronics are associated w/ the X-REAS? I guess it senses body roll and provides additional pressure to the appropriate shock(s) to counter the roll? Seems to me it would be like the auto height adjustment on the LX470 in that once the shocks are dead X years down the road, either you have to spend big dollars for OEM shocks, or ditch the system altogether and get normal shocks. I got OME shocks/springs on my 1st gen and it's pretty resistant to body roll at speed. Any comments?

1. >2003 sr5 and limited has the smaller discs compared to sports (13.3").
2004+ sr5 has smaller discs compared to sports and limited (13.3").
Therefore, if you opt for the 17" wheels, that won't mean that you get the larger discs. Sorry.

2. > Don't have xreas and glad I didn't waste my $ on getting it as it would just come off. xreas is not electronically controlled (it's all fluid/pressure controlled). If you remove the xreas, it'll be a pita reinstalling it.

My personal opinion in all of this: If you plan to offroad alot and want to save $, get the sr5 or the limited that doesn't have xreas. If you plan to do alot of onroad and limited offroad, then xreas will be benefitial.

Btw, getting xreas and then removing it sounds like a waste of $$. it's almost like asking for the 3rd row seats and then removing it and never using it...

Good luck

X-Reas rocks on the road and on dirt roads. I love it.

I love the XREAS and can feel it working even with 4.5" of lift. Makes it feel the same as it did the day I got it -- which was more than impressive!
