I feel kinda bad for not being able to buy LX470 Diesel, like it should be. Any off road vehicle with petrol engine is a waste of skin in my opinion.

There were a couple diesel Land Cruisers at a event I went to a month or so ago. One was a FJ80 or FJ100 diesel. The diesel isn't as good on the sand dunes where the HP helps but otherwise I think you are right about offroading and diesels.

I took my new truck to a local Lexus dealerhip (owned by the same guy as Toyota dealership I dealt with before) asking if they could do something about bad leather on my driver's seat. Customer treatment is day and night compared to Toyota, I was treated like some kind of celebrity, or at least like a human being. Truck is out of basic warranty, but regardless of that they are gonna call some regional manger today (I did not ask them about it) and see if they can still go ahead and replace that seat. UNBELIEVABLE!
All I wanted to know if there were any recalls on the upholstery, because every Cruiser and 470 I saw seemed to have lowsy leather.
It makes me wonder how Scion buyers are going to be treated, when this make sells widely. Probably they gonna tell them to go piss down the river, or buy Lexus

Mish,
I used to own a GS and really enjoyed the service experience from Lexus too. The problem is that Toyota has a system in the US for many decades and Lexus network is a new setup with the goal of customer satisfaction.

About the leather, there were complaints on the lesser ES, GS models and now all the sedans carry the same high end leather as in the LS400.
You are not the only one to notice the sub-par leather obviously.

Even though they treat you better, still double check the work. One time they left a Snap-On socket in the engine compartment! I heard a clunking when I turned and found it loose at the base of the windshield area!:pat:
That could have F'd up my engine so I got lucky. There are mistakes and hacks everywhere.

HOLY COW!

:pat: I just read your whole thread on the noise on the V6 and it disturbed me to the MAX. I just bought a 4runner SPort V6 about three weeks ago. I noticed after just a few days this lifter noise, as it were. I shrugged it off thinking it would settle down. A few days after that I was parked with my car running next to a friend's car and they asked what that noise was coming from my engine. OUCH! Reality strikes. It primarily comes from the drivers side of the engine loudly when the hood is up, noticably when the hood is down. Funny how the passenger side of the engine is relatively quiet.

So I hit the internet searching for others with the same problem and that is how I ended up here. My 91 Ford Explorer V6 100K miles makes a lil ticking noise but nothing compared to what I have in this new vehicle. Anyhow is there anyway you can repost your engine noise sound or email it to me...

I am sorry, but I am no longer a 4Runner owner, Toyota purchased my truck back (because of that "normal" noise), but you are welcome to read this thread through and see where I posted movie file of my ex 4Runner running and rattling. Noise will not go away, it will only grow little by little, or it might stay the same. I believe this rattle will not disable your engine any time soon, because we have many members here with the similar noise and none of them had any breakdowns yet. Ask around, you might find someone who got it fixed under warranty.

Here is the "normal" noise.
Sorry, but brings back way too many unpleasant memories, and BTW Toyota refused to pay for the attorney, so I had to fork out the cash, which was worth it in order to win.

ticking noise

I just bought an 06 SR5 4Runner and it has made a ticking noise since I bought it. The ticking noise is present at idle but seems to get louder and faster with increasing speed. I can hear it clearly with the windows down and somewhat with the windows up. What is this noise?

Ahh, the saga continues! I haven't thought about this thread in years. My 03 still ticks, still runs great and returns 21mpg, 45K miles without problem one (other than the ticking). I know in mine, it is the resonance of the thinwall exhaust manifolds - they are rolled steel instead of cast iron, lighter and probably cheaper. I can put a mechancis stehoscope on them and verify that's where the noise originates from. It is very noticeable at idle and when driving next to a jersey wall or building at speed. I've learned to ignore it, I do sometimes get the question from someone about what's ticking. I went back to Toyota a couple of times, had them document the noise and just forgot about it. If I ever go to sell the vehicle privately, I'm sure it will be an issue for the buyer which is why I've got it on a couple of service tickets that the noise is normal.

I don't know why it's so pronounced on the drivers side, I guess the routing of the manifold exacerbates the sound.

I think that is a different noise than what the OP had. The ticking you hear at idle and when driving next to a wall is what every V6 owner has. I was always told it was a sound that all VVTi motors make, but I'm not so sure about that.

I've had that ticking this whole time, and I've never had any problems. The OP had some SERIOUS ticking.
