my rear gate won't latch, I can hear the motor trying to latch but then it releases and my gate is open, help please....................

 

took it to the dealership yesterday, the latch mechanism is bad, $380.00 plus tax to replace it,

 

Wow, that is crazy! With all the electric options its only a matter of time before they stop working, I wonder how many people will be shelling out that money after 5 years or so. I would expect my gate latch to last pretty much forever unless I did something to it.
