Like just replacing the leaf springs. Idk? But seriously, I'm not arguing just for the sake of arguing, I've seen some stupid ideas on this board, and for someone that is passing by and see's this mod, come on....what do you expect? lol it just looks ghetto and jerry rigged....but if it works for you.... great I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything I'm just voicing my opinion.

Sorry for the mix up. Smugs is my love name for yotAddiction.<<<XXXX>>> I acknowledge.....you've never called me a name. And, it ain't the prettiest, but is does work. Function over form, eh.

I completely understand about the stupid ideas. But, the probability of this mod cracking the upper weld is as much as many other simple mods that are across the board accepted. Like I said, I've put the mod to the test. Over and over and over and over again. No signs of damage or failure due to the coil and it being a bunk mod. If anything, I'm asking too much of my vehicle in regards to weight. But, hey.......it's what i got and got's to do what I got's to do. And, I've well established the limits <<<beyond what many will say is proper>>>. I've been doing this a long time, dude.

Oh, haven't you tried Emmet's....or Carolyn's? All Irish....all good.....almost half the price.

Carolyn's is even made with honey. <<<<with cream? Ungh.......unbeatable?

Oh, and even seems to have more whiskey. Nuff said?

Price, my friend, is the difference between well, and premium drinks. Carolyn's and Emmet's are used in "well" drinks....cheap. Bailey's is used in "premium" drinks.....not cheap.

And anyways, if your gonna drink, why not drink the best?

I guess we'll have to chaulk that up to the relative. "Cheap drinks" I don't know about. I don't go to bars and such. But, I do visit the liquor store from time to time. I found I just prefer the taste of Emmet's<<<in particular<<< or Carolyn's over Baileys regardless of price. Mind you, were Emmet's or Carolyn's pricier than Bailey's, I'd probably buy Bailey's more often. It's still good, for sure. And, yeah....I ain't rich. So, cigar money has to come from somewhere's.

See, quit smoking cigars, move to a pipe, (I smoke a tobacco pipe), and you'll have the money for Bailey's!

See, problem solved

Lol.....no way, man. I smoke a pipe too, but cigars......damn, I'd rather have hemorroids than give those up. Okay...maybe not, but I do like my cigars. Quorum Toros....handmade in Nicaragua. The shiz.....

And, I still prefer Emmet's. But, if you got the Bailey's, I'll certainly drink it. On the rocks, please. Glass chilled.

Oops! didn't mean to open up such a can of worms. I forgot I was searching old posts. Just looking for something to get me through the winter 'till I can actually do some real susp. upgrades. Got the springs, cut em down, snowing like a mofo - no garage.
(death springs on next week)
I agree this basic mod (no spring retainers) is potentially somewhat dangerous, but I just need to get 2 miles to my snow removal accounts for the winter. The rig is gettin it right when the snow melts.
Irish Cream, thanks, but I'll just take my "Old Gran'Dad With a Woman I aint never had" Rocks not necessary, It's cold in the outside!

If you can find rear springs from a soft top, they will fit better (supposed to be slightly softer). Another way to install the springs is to unbolt the front spring shackle and put the springs in. I had hard top springs and had to cut 1/2" off to make them fit better.

the springs I have are accually off a soft top. Should I cut them down? Are the rears the more wider springs or narrower? thank you

Try them first. You may not have to do anything to the springs.

The front springs are the same coil all the way up (like a column) and the rear have small coils at the top and bottom with larger coils in the middle.

^^^The rears are a little wider as well I think. They are progressive rate instead of a constant rate like the fronts. You could use either, but you would definatly have to cut the fronts because they are a few inches taller than the rears.
