Ok im sure you know this, but steering stops maybe? Really common problem at full lock.

yea, checked the stops, im good. doesn't look like the angles are extreme and the steering radius isn't over aggressive

Its just the rubbing that does it. The stops rub together and make that grinding/creaking noise. Try rubbing some thick grease on all 4 of them.
Or you can order new rubber end cap things for cheap.
I just put up with it, its not hurting anything. But you do get weirds looks from people turning around in parking lots.

Grease up the steering stops, see how that works. Grease doesn't last long in the rain, anti-seize compound lasts a long time (3 months in the rain).
