Wreck with my '89

well, scuba's wreck topic reminded me to do this, so here we go.

i was driving past hopkins high school about 3 weeks ago on the way to minneapolis from where i live. i had to stop and get gas to finish the trip. as i was heading up to the stoplight in front of the high school, there was a tremendous amount of oncoming traffic heading toward the highway i just got off of. as i was approaching the light, people turning left into the high school was crossing my lane as my light turned yellow.

i hit my brakes and, lo and behold, ice. not too big of a deal, right? its minnesota, everyone is driving careful and slow, and i wasnt sliding side to side, so just a straight shot through a yellow light.

then an anxious mom pulls out to turn left right in front of me to catch the last second of the yellow light, so she can get her kids to school on time.

shes going turning speed, im about going between 30-35(40mph speed limit.) we connect at my driver side front corner, and her passenger side front corner. so pretty much head on.

so, the damage. her cars('01 camry) hood did the normal "tee-pee" action, bumper flew off, her wheel passenger side wheel was duck footed out and i "relocated" her radiator straight into her block. we also effectively locked vehicles.

nobody was injured in her car, but i took a good whoopin from the steering wheel, because my head bounced off it.

the funny thing is, i said i was going to move my truck out of the street, she said, "i dont think either of our cars are moving." the look on her face was priceless when the yota started right up and pulled apart from her car like pulling out of a parking space.

the only damage i had(initially) was a bent air dam and a broken blinker. maybe needs a headlight alignment.

after the fact, i think my frame is bent.

i know you want em, so, here you go, you pic fiends!

and after i pulled the air dam

to be honest, i think it looks higher and more aggressive.

Atleast it isnt bad like scubas. I went through half the wnter without rear breaks. It was kinda scary sliding to a stop sometimes. Thats the only reason why i has to put it in 4x4. Tried to get some breaking from the rear.

From: Cincinnati, Ohio - Amelia is the exact place. There is no one else on this site from where I am. Seems like everyone is from Cali or Washington. I guess I need to move.

i doubt your frame is bent they probably came under your truck and hit the tire knocking the alignment out

Looks about like the same damage I got from hitting a deer at 45-50. I second the alignment out, but if anything on the frame is bent, it'd be where the rear of the lower control arm mounts to the frame. Not that expensive to have a frame shop fix it.

alright, well, thanks for thee input on the frame guys, getting me alot less freaked out about it.

and yea scoobs, not as bad as your wreck. i felt lucky after i saw your thread lol.

and yes my valence was metal. wee rolled it into a nice ball to throw away.

so ok tomorrow im bringing it down to get aligned and start saving up money again from scratch for mods..... probly going to get a big beastly front bumper from trail gear first lol.

o a side note. i was changing the bulbs out on the broken stuff and found a chip of green plastic from the camry lodged in my grille. now i can utter the phrase "i pick camrys out of the grille of my truck" haha.
