Would you spend $4400. on a 94 4Runner

Heres the deal its clean inside and out one small flaw on drivers seat, like I said its a 94. 4X4 5 speed v6 sunroof rear air running boards roof rack front tires 80% rears 90%. This truck has been in AZ all its life and has NO rust.
The Issues I know without taking it to the mecanic:
Power steering leaking all over the place would need replacement
CVs need replacing
Speed sensor
Headgasket was done in 98 on recall and replaced again two years ago
possibly needs head reset??
broken headlamp
saggy rearend

Thanks guys!!

If it didn't have anything wrong with it, I'd gladly(well, not gladly) pay $4400 for it. Thats if it was perfect, and less than 150K miles.

talk him down however much it will cost in repairs like this. say the power steering is gonna cost 250, and then the headlamp 50, ... say it all comes out to about 600, then ask him 3,800 for it. i would go to bluebook and see the price of it, and base it off there. mid 90's 4runners usually go for about 4k...

That is pretty much how I was thinking when I talk to him tomorrow. I called around a few places to get pricing and figured I would let him know what I found and see if he will bend in price.
I ran blue book and it was $4340 in fair condition.

Price sounds about right. I'd try offering 3,900...if no-go, settle for 4,000

With 153k miles and the 2nd head gasket done, that motor should be good for a long time, providing it was taken care of. The other problems it has are fairly inexpensive to fix.

Whats the exterior look like? How many owners?

I bought my 94 Manual 4Runner with 142,000 miles on it for $3700 a year ago. The vacuum switch to the power steering was leaking and needed replacing. The switch was $130 from the dealer. Later I replaced the O-rings on the power steering pump and now it has zero leaks Kit is $60 or $400 P&L if you have someone do it. You might also want to talk him down by saying the clutch is very likely in need of replacing. In Colorado $4400 is fair but not a great deal. The head gaskets being replaced a second time would worry me enough to pass on it unless the guy was willing to part with it for $3200.

Sounds like just an ok deal on it to me... Nothing to brag about but not a rip off either.

I just paid $3,800 for a mint 95' with 112K. (Limited, auto, leather, sunroof, v6, 4x4, no rust, the paint shines like a mirror and all maintenance was done at the dealer)

and you robbed whoever it was you bought it from.

I paid $4,200 for my 94. Ran slightly rough (valve cover gasket leaks), small rust spots, but other than that is in great shape. 160k on the odo.

SR5, V6 4x4, sunroof, auto.

I agree. I found it on Craig's List...owner bought a Land Cruiser and wanted to dump it fast. The guy posted it at lunch and said he had over 20 calls in 8 hours. He said "Well...I have a guy here with $3,600 cash but I'm not going that low" The owner called me back and said "the guy with the $3600 will be back around noon with $200 more. If you can get here before then with the full $3,800 you can have it." I was there at 8:30am...so in theory I stole it from 2 people!

Its a great truck, I'm very pleased with it.

I was looking at offering 4,000. I got quotes for all the fixes and I was going to show all of that to him and see where he was willing to go with it.

Exterior is in good shape you know a small ding here or there but the paint is shiny still there is a very small amount of oxidation on the roof but Im sure a good round with a mothers clay bar will bring back more shine. He has kept it garaged.
There have been only two owners, him being the second.

Yeah the CV's will cost me no more the $600. from the quotes I have.

what is a head reset?????[/QUOTE Sorry reseated.

BTW if I were letting my emotions get in the way I would have bought the thing without even looking seriously at the issues and asking an opinion here.

Lastly I am not looking at this as a solo vehicle I have a Sierra I drive daily and tow with.
