I'm looking into suspension lift kits and i was wondering if anyone was running with Pro-Comp Stage II, 4", Tuff Country 4", or i found another, but wasn't sure what was included, SuperLift 4-5" kit, and also was wondering if it was worth the money and if someone else carried these things for less... any comments are appreciated

the SAS is the same cost, but is far more labor intensive. plus you still would have to find a front axle.

local shop wants 3k to SAS my runner. Makes me wish i could weld better, but im not putting that in my hands, not enough experience.

 

Or you could buy almost two lockers for that price and actually see an improvement in capability.

or, is it just for looks?

 

If you want the lift for performance offroad, don't spend the money on one of those kits. It won't give you any benefit over stock suspension except that you can fit bigger tires. However you can fit 33x10.50's with no lift, and can lift it 2 inches on top of that for a little more clearance for 300-500 bucks more.

On the other hand, if you are wanting it for looks on a daily driver, go with one of the lifts you have above.

 

Check out rough-country rated at 4-5" of lift at $800. Complete with shocks too!!!

 

I have the Pro Comp Stage II kit on my 90 4runner and without any cranking of the t-bars run 35 x 12.5 but you may want to get stiffer rear coils if you get the kit listed mine started to sag after about 2 months sure they replaced them for free but I went and got some custom heavy duty springs made and the rear sits a bit higher then the front now :}.

You should be able to find it cheaper if you search around also I payed $900 shipped from 4wheelparts.com they do the meet or beat deal on price too. I have no complaints about mine other then the rear coils going bad so fast but if I had it to do over I believe that for the money I too would SAS front and rear just to get what I really wanted from the start.

Don't get me wrong I am happy with my stage II and have no complaints but now it is almost strictly an on road with little off road truck now that I have a full on SAS 4runner (both 2nd gen's) and is very sturdy on the road at freeway speeds you will also have to get a rim with minimum 3.75 backspacing to fit the 33 x 12.5's and up but they don't tell you that until you ready the description or direction's so figure them into the cost as well.

 

i paid 668 for my rough country lift kit and so far it has been nice but the ride is rough on the spine it was easy to put on but the directions that came with it SUCKED BALLS!!!! they skiped steps and the pictures were worthless

 

Pm Raginyota, he has a 4" ifs kit, he want to sell the whole IFS assembly for much less than any of those kits.

 

Got mine off ebay for $500 new. Yeah, it came with rear blocks, but nothing a set of new springs and shackles could not fix. I got away with spending only about $750 bucks, but, I'm either going Total Chaos or Downey long travel in the not too distant future, but it's hard to swallow the $2k+ pill. A SAS is not best for me because I will be running around in the desert and the IFS would be more beneficial for me. Besides, got a jeep cj5 for the rocks already. I said a bad four letter word...haha
