I have seen rust like that .. many times .. and MOST are VERY fixable .. remember .. sheet metal is much thinner then frame metal

Http://www.toyotafiberglass.com has the products to repair ..

It's just a Calgary thing

Fiberglass box, and welded up frame in the spring. I swear. You don't just throw away an RTE. Plus, do you know how damn expensive a decent toyota truck is around here?

Ya, its peelin....no rust yet tho...I'm still contemplating what to do about it, any thoughts?

Looks good 420. What is making the road manners so bad?
Im not sure... prob just the lift and junk tires... i'm used to driving a runner, and this thing feels like a tin can compared to the runners.

Actually... those are not that bad... I wouldnt even use sheet metal for those, just wire brush all the flakey rust, clean off all dirt, then por15, paint, then fill with fiberglass, sand, bondo, and repaint...and yours will look better than mine. All in all, the metal work took the longest for me, trying to form new sheet to the old body and make it look halfway descent, is a challenge and a half.

I think next year... it will be a flatbed... just gotta get thru this winter first, wood is goin for over $200/green cord, around here.. so I might actually be able to make some coin.

Nope...my frame looks good, only minor surface rust, and the bed and doors, were the only body rot... there are some other spots on the cab that will need to be sanded/painted, but my fiber/bondo work is done.

O....and yes...the bumper/ and the rest of the truck... will be sandblsted and painted flat black before the winter comes... gonna try to prevent anymore rust.

ooo, i have about the same cost into a 4x4 piece of sheet metal, but yeah, no kidding, the sheet metal is ssooo friggin thin, its stupid. On a side note, and something i didn't know, for our generation trucks, all the metal is US scrap steel, and the Japanese didn't really pay attention to metallurgy, so thats why they trucks have such problems with corrosion.

well, up here we are getting the shaft... the state covers all the roads with that calcium stuff, which does not cause rust...right? No, actually, because they also use salt on the roads, the calcium stuff actually intensifies the effects of the salt.... thanx a lot Gov. Baldacci!!
