At 2000 RPM's in 5th gear, I believe I would be driving about 50-55 mph. Yota must have designed this truck back when the speed limit was 55. I should go back and read all the threads about gearing, but it seems that the gearing on my rig is fine for the lower gears. Acceleration is acceptable. If I went to taller tires, I would have better top end speed, but worse acceleration. Most people seem to raise their gear ratio for better crawling ability, but I would be lowering the gear ratio for better top end speed at the loss of acceleration. That's why the little chuckle smiley face above. Not sure I want to go there with the gearing etc...

I am not satisfied with the performance, however, for what it is and known to be, I think it runs great. I got plenty of low end torque with first and second gets me ready for 3rd which seems to be the gear of choice for my runner.
It doesnt run too bad now that I am used to it...lol.....actually I see top at about 90-95...about 3500 revs at 80...It's only after I drive other ppls rigs that I feel power poor....My dad in laws duramax (which probably isnt a good vehicle for power comparisons considering it pullled a low 13 in the 1/4) but even so...ok here...my mom in laws hyundai sante fe felt like a ferarri after driving my rig....a freakin hyundai guys!!!....NOT HAPPENIN!....I have the turbo rebuilt, have my design ready, just need a cpl more items and a couple days that the rig can be down and weeeeee'll see just what a 3vz can do and or take...I honestly think with as hard as these engines are run their entire life, high revs and everything, that it could very well suit a turbocharger...when needing to accelerate I push 1st to about 4500 into 2nd at about 2900, 2nd-4500 into 3rd where I will be at around miles per hour at 4000 in third going into fourth before I reach speed to merge...unfortunately I usually dont have enough room to reach speed before the merge...

anyways..blah ramble ramble...I think the abuse of the engine averaging 3500 rpm most of its life would be lessened by means of a turbo charger where you can actually reach a sustainable shift at 3000 revs and actually PULL after the shift....less Revs less abuse...no?....YES YES YES....hehehe my precious....dont get me wrong guys..Im not out to blow it up...I'm talking about maybe 6psi boost at MOST....I dont need a drag rig..I just want a LITTLE more UMPH.
