Wiring a Rail II controller

Wiring a Rail II controller
I just recently received my ra-designs rail 2 controller and wanted to get started on wiring it up. This is a controller for a 4spd auto trans to bypass the TCM and shift manually. My issue is finding how to connect It to the solenoids. Apparently there is no TCM on these trucks. There are also about 6 different plugs around the shift lever that look like they could be what I'm looking for. My questions are 1. is there access to the wires to the 3 solenoids inside the cab I can use? 2. If not, what is the best way to get direct access to the shift solenoids? There are plenty of vague instructions about the AW4 but not the A340H. This is also my first auto trans so I'm unclear where to look for these wires.

Did you see this page and the associated PDF for the rail 2?

Hopefully you didn't and this helps.
I've eyeballed his stuff quite a bit but haven't had need yet for any of it so I can't be of much more help than this.
Good luck.

The Transmission is controlled by the ECM. The switches near the shifter have nothing (directly) to do with what you want. Here's the Toyota manual page: http://web.archive.org/web/201408160...34electron.pdf You'll want S1, S2 and Sl. The FSM doesn't give the wire colors, but it does give the positions in the ECM connectors. This manual is for a '93. I suspect the wiring is the same for all A340's but you'll want to follow something like the procedure given in the Rail Instructions (as linked by Bingle) to determine if you have the correct wires. (I'm 99% sure that the wire colors given in the Rail instructions will not match your truck.)
Once you start cutting wires going to the ECM, your potential for an irreversible screw-up goes up. Be careful.
