looking for wiring diagram for a 3rd gen pickup. specifically the dash lighting diagrams, somehow ive got a break in the ground wire for the headlight dimmer/gauge illumination circuit.

i cant seem to find a FSM online anywhere

 

I don't have your diagram. Check the dimmer switch itself first, it controls the dash lights via varying the ground going to the bulbs.

Note that headlight and gauges are completely different circuits.

Does your glovebox lamp work? This indicated the ground is atleast partly intact, it's localed in the LH kick panel. It's white with black. On the rheostat(Dimmer), you have Green (12v),w-b ground strap, and White-green. The w-g is the variable ground for the dash backlights. The DRl system is also grounded at the kick panel with white-black.

You can get wiring diagrams from autozone, but they don't cover the canadian specific stuff.

 

Not sure what the problem is/was but I had no power at the dimmer switch yet the hvac control lighting worked but not the instrument cluster back lighting. Dimmer only worked full bright or off. While I was putting the dash back together (gave up for the night) it all starting working properly again

Now none of the electrical gauges in the cluster work.

More hunting next weekend I guess
