Hey hey. Yeah, I've done the cycle and moved the arms to the lowest possible, rational position but once I fire them up, the wipers actually go below the window line and back up.
I'll have to remove all linkage and see if something is off. It'll be a 15 minute job to pull it.
Did you work this out, kapeket? I'm having similar issues as I replaced the linkage in minesone from my parts truck which is also an '89. I compared with the other one and it looked similar except the joints in the old one looked a little more enclosed. The reason I replaced it was the old one's was missing a plastic piece at the joint connecting to the motor which caused it to jump a little during operation. Now I can't seem to get it in the right spot..it's not so off that it's going off the windshield but I just want it to be where the engineers intended it to be
I had the same issue on my 93 xcab. The previous owner replaced linkage and said he replaced it with a standard cab set. I too tried messing with the blade location but to no avail. It ended up being the motor linkage clocking. Steps I took to correct:
I opened the hood
watched the wipers cycle a few times
made a mark with tape of where the linkage was at when the blades were where I thought they should be
then shut of the wipers (let them stop on their own)
detached bolt connecting the motor to the linkage
Re-clocked the linkage to my mark and reattach bolt.
