Wiper Linkage Replacement and Timing

Hey howdy all.

92 T4R. I removed and replaced all linkage and motor for the wipers.

Didn't think about the positioning. Anyone know why when the wipers stop, they go lower before setting in?

Seems like the one wiper on passenger side wants to settle below the window but if I put it higher, the driver side is not completely down.

Any ideas?

The wiper motor is wired to return to the docking position when the switch is shut off .

if it was not wipers would stop when the switch was turned off

Adjust the wipers by pulling them off and putting them in the correct position .

Hey hey. Yeah, I've done the cycle and moved the arms to the lowest possible, rational position but once I fire them up, the wipers actually go below the window line and back up.

I'll have to remove all linkage and see if something is off. It'll be a 15 minute job to pull it.

Thanks wyoming.

It sounds like you are installing them to low

Then the arms return to the park position

The only adjustments I have ever made are at the wipers.

In this day quite possible you got the wrong parts which is causing your issue.

How did yours get so bad everything needed replaced ? You did compare the old with the new ?

Did you work this out, kapeket? I'm having similar issues as I replaced the linkage in minesone from my parts truck which is also an '89. I compared with the other one and it looked similar except the joints in the old one looked a little more enclosed. The reason I replaced it was the old one's was missing a plastic piece at the joint connecting to the motor which caused it to jump a little during operation. Now I can't seem to get it in the right spot..it's not so off that it's going off the windshield but I just want it to be where the engineers intended it to be

This is where the wipers are on my 90 x-cab if you need an example. Never been off.

Negative. I still have to all but manually "tap" it into position with the wiper control.

My next effort involves running it outside the vehicle and watching this system work in full view.

I'll update this thread with video and/or images once I figure it out. =)
